NEW MUSIC // BICURIOUS ERUPTS WITH NEW LIFE ON YOUR LIFE IS OVER

Somehow it’s been almost seven years since we first heard Ireland’s Bicurious, but it feels like a lot more – and we mean that as a compliment. In their time as a band they’ve left massive impressions since day one with their chunky instrumentation and all around accessible badassery.

The sheer concussive force contained in those early tracks like “T.O.I” and “Come On” seemed to be the result of a simple but effective chemistry – Bicurious’ songwriting and Michael Richards’ studio prowess. The year after their debut, they struck again with the muscular, strutting I’m So Confused. It manages to step everything up that came before it, and even saw acclaimed producer Tom Peters step in to elevate the experience. Spoiler alert, it worked, and the rest is history as the band rose to the ranks of Dublin’s finest with a series of stellar singles.

The band just put out a new album called Your Life is Over Now, featuring the single “Monday Afternoon,” which, coincidentally, is right now for us.

One victory for the band is that their gradual introduction of vocals over the years, as they’ve continued to be rewarding. Your Life is Over Now finds itself filling in a space between Bloc Party, Minus the Bear, and Delta Sleep on songs like “Monday Afternoon” and opener “Coming Around.” Instrumentally, Bicurious continues to impress as well, glitching and grooving through their various guitar / bass parts like an unholy spawn of Alpha Male Tea Party and Adebisi Shank.

Your Life is Over Now is perfect for both fresh fans and old heads alike: Bicurious wail like they’ve never been more comfortable in their own skin, and with a record as dazzling as this, you could see why. It’s almost morbid to think about in advance these days, but it’s the kind of record that feels like it’s going to stay on for years, not months. Check out the rest of it on their Bandcamp here.
