Let’s face it, the British are the undisputed front runners when it comes to blending the hook-rich and jangly nature of alternative rock with the stylings of math rock. You only have to look to bands like Tubelord, Meet Me In St Louis, Colour, Hot Club de Paris, Foals, Delta Sleep, and on and on. We don’t need to convince you again and again. So is it any surprise that power trio Bisch Nadar are based in Liverpool? And producing top notch indie-math concoctions? Nah, it’s no surprise.
In their newest single, ‘Leaders’, the young band bring off-kilter riffery to the table from the get-go. The chord progression that pervades this track is a knotty and infectious ear-worm, and is complemented with choruses of bursting vocal harmonies and intermittent banshee screams. ‘Leaders’ was recorded with Alpha Male Tea Party overlord Tom Peters, and will likely pop up in Bisch Nadar’s follow up to their 2017 EP. Time will tell. For now, let us indulge in the riffs and await further updates…
