MIRAKLER

EXCLUSIVE // MIRAKLER MAKES A CONVINCING CASE FOR THE DEVIL ON THEIR CHILLING DEBUT

Oh boy, oh boy, what a time to be alive. At this point, what hasn’t the last few years thrown into the proverbial blender? Billionaires trapped in a submarine, controlled by a video game controller, triggering a global, monetarily motivated philanthropic charade, and allegedly the only guy who has a sub with the tech necessary to intervene is none other than the man keep Half Life 3 from happening? G-man himself couldn’t make that up.

And this just in, we are receiving word that Elon Musk is going to fight Mark Zuckerberg in a literal cage match. Fuck it. These current events and other dystopian fantasies, perhaps, bring us, the… normal ones, allegedly, together. We won’t list all of these moments here, because it might take a few years, but luckily, there have been some bands popping up that have helped us vent this frustration. A little.

Enter MIRAKLER.

MIRAKLER, whose barbed, harrowing shrieks have been making waves since their self-titled single last year, are the latest in a slew of recent artists that seem uniquely adept in capturing the decay of western society through music. Much like the cacophony brought to you by syndicated news and humanity at large, MIRAKLER’s debut LP How I Became the Devil is a gut-churning portrait of guitars wailing like they’re being burnt to a crisp and a low end so abrasive it could give you tetanus through your headphones.

For some it’s intense, but for most of us, it’s therapeutic, so we’re very proud indeed to bring you this exclusive full album stream courtesy of Reptilian Records.

Thus far, we like how most of the press for the record says ‘maintains a sense of melody,’ or something along those lines – but honestly, they go full-on discordant throughout. There is melody, but we wouldn’t call it maintained or salvaged, more of temporary survivor of the scattered debris, pondering its imminent destruction.

However, the stunning, leveling dynamic across How I Became the Devil is met with some interesting left turns. The positively riff-y crunch of “Egg,” the unhinged “Shootist,” and the incredibly vulnerable tale of “Kenny” cement the record as worthy addition to the canon of bands detailing the United States’ descent from deep inside.

If you’ve been jamming Chat Pile, Unsane, or Coordinated Suicides to scratch the existential itch, add MIRAKLER’s How I Became the Devil to your playlists immediately. You won’t be disappointed. The band is going on tour to promote the album the July, and you can catch them at the following dates:
