Toronto Jazz/Funk wizards ART the Band have just come to us with their second single release of Spring 2018, ‘Well Priced Victorian’. Following their 2017 EP “Snacks”, and their angular guitar driven single ‘Finna Skedaddle’, ART the Band has been hard at work. the product of those efforts is a shifting and infinite electric jazz landscape reminiscent of west coast heavies Flying Lotus, Mndsgn, or Melbourne’s Kirkis. The listener is placed in the bench seat of ART’s tour van as guest saxophonist Yesseh Furaha-Ali (Mary J Blige, Solange, Sput Searight) pilots them across the shifting sands of millennial uncertainty. The track is both dark and introspective, with it’s sparse and seismic bass stabs, while it’s horn driven anthemic chorus hints at brighter possibilities. After a month in the United States and East coast of Canada, the band is returning home for their release party at The Pilot, June 25th, as part of the Toronto Jazz Festival.
