Gaze is back, folks. Bands like Nothing and Transphobic Fuck Band are fronting the shoegaze revival in the 21st century, nodding to their My Bloody Valentine and Slow Dive predecessors with a respectful wink of the eye. The advent of ‘-gaze’ sub-genres also seems to be on the rise. Bands like Alcest and Deafheaven have recently popularised ‘blackgaze’, the combination of black metal and shoegaze. Who would know it, -gaze is even entering the math rock genre.
Gloe is a brand new four piece combining the off-kilter nature of math rock with the dreamy reverb of shoegaze. The band have appeared seemingly out of nowhere, and are already generating widepsraed appeal amongst dwellers of the internet. When the band premiered ‘Visiting Corpse‘ on their social media yesterday, we Fecking Bahamoids were kind of speechless.
