You’ve gotta hand it to ’em, GODS. make an impression with their name before you even hear their music, which is an impressive feat considering the levels of band name saturation in the proverbial pool. Whether it’s lofty expectations or pitfalls of delusional grandeur, who knows what to expect with a name like that. Thankfully, “Sunburn” shows some pretty sweet promise for Alchemy, the band’s upcoming second album.
The Charleston, South Carolina two-piece keeps in the traditions of math rock power couples like standards, Right Chipper, and floral, so a lot of younger instrumental fans are sure to eat this up when they hear it. It’s also got a bit of a jammy, Midwest emo feel to it, so all around there should be a lot of resonance here.
Oh, not to mention, Gods. get a certain amount style points for the editing and overall execution of the music video too – check it out below:

The way the blue and black hardware on those drums contrast with the orange-on-orange guitar situation is just flat out sick. We don’t have a release date yet for the new album yet, but we’ll keep you posted. While we’re at it though, Gods.’ last album was a pretty sweet ride too so if you haven’t already, check that out here.
