Spazzy math rock quartet Snort is back with new EP Josh, the follow-up to their 2013 EP Ron. The band has changed quite a lot in the three years since Ron, relocating from Wisconsin to Chicago, changing their line-up, and most importantly further developing their sound and songwriting. Josh is an upbeat and melodic love affair, with the band mixing influences from punk and pop in with their mathy and complex arrangements. It’s catchy and also fun in a way that resembles the party math stylings of Axes, Bearded Youth Quest, and Fang Island.
For the first time, Snort has introduced vocals into their work. The band can be heard spitting out lyrics in their new track ‘Lobster Lunch For One At Sea’, premiering this week on our website.
Josh will be released in tape and digital on November 4. Follow Snort on Facebook and bandcamp for more updates regarding the EP’s release. If you are in the Chicago area, Snort will be playing an EP Release Show at Quenchers on Saturday, November 5. Go get at it.
