NEW MUSIC // GET INTO THE 2021 FLOW WITH EMO/MATH trio LEAFING

Brooklyn’s a nice turf for music. You’ve got bands like Candiria, Kneebody, Liturgy and Dirty Projectors that have left a considerable footprint, but there’s also a swathe of nice math rock acts like concrete concrete, Extra Life, Skryptor, and Fang Island to name a few.

Leafing is one of the newest entries in the Brooklyn musical almanac. This hot new trio comprises members from the now sadly defunct Slim Charles, and touring members from Palehound and Vagabon. The band’s first single, “Little Ball“, which will feature on the band’s upcoming full-length, came out in December with positive cheer and praises. Their latest single “Rabbit Run” is an equal dose of spicy.

The track is named after Rabbit Run Road in Cooperstown, NY (which, in turn, is likely named after the John Updike literary masterpiece), and features a fuzzy and warbling guitar solo by Adam Turay of The Narcotix, and Amduat. Leafing’s upcoming album, which features “Rabbit Run”, has been recorded across the band members’ homes whilst in quarantine the past spring and summer. We hope it brings a little bit of joy to your early 2021, lovers.
