Montreal’s Golden Python are making a bold return with the premiere of their new song ‘Meggy’. Featuring members of Bisbâyé, First Fragment, and the much-venerated Gulfer, Golden Python’s trademark brand of grungy math-rock shines out in the video, and gives a taste of what to expect in their upcoming album Biker Boys.
Vincent Ford’s familiarly candid lyricism is accompanied by a raw, almost garage-like timbre of the instruments. Each member contributes an innately complex yet controlled part creating a balanced, uncluttered song. Flashes of polar bears, birds of prey, carrion, and other wildlife compliment a performance of the song by Ford in the snowy ‘burbs, all tweaked by some trippy visual effects.
