As you know, the word ‘doktra’ means awesome. In some distant tribal circles the word also means ‘underrated’.
The Indianapolis trio released their stellar Polygon album last year for free, a luscious course in major chord heavy riffs and delectable pedal effects, conjuring up the distorted glee that bands like ASIWYFA, Alpha Male Tea Party and Adebisi Shank are wont to supply. Polygon continued Doktra’s legacy of quietly giving out quality instrumental music for free from their Indiana homesteads. Like many math rock bands, they were silent philanthropists.
Well, today we are proud to be celebrating the existence of Doktra by premiering a little glimpse of Doktra’s upcoming self-titled release, due out June 1st on Permanent Scowl Records. The track, ‘Giants’, slowly creeps in with menacing cymbals, and abruptly delivers its hammering chord progressions with full-force. There’s even subtle vibes of a Celtic jig in there to satisfy the many Michael Flatley fans out there. It’s a heck of a preview for things to come.
You can stay up to date with the release of this self-titled bad boy via Doktra’s website. Stay in school, as well.
