Just Hammers is one of the freshest bands coming out of Chicago. While the band is new, dropping their self-titled debut EP on June 4, the musicians in Just Hammers are veterans of the music scene. Bassist Sam Edgin has been featured many times on Fecking Bahamas over the years with the math rock bass and drums duo Space Blood. Guitarist Dan Hoefler previously played in the post-metal band An Aesthetic Anaesthetic, along with Sam Edgin. The band is rounded out by drummer Mat Haywood (Beat Drun Juel) and guitarist/vocalist Aaron Ehinger (Kodakrome).
We are thrilled to be premiering the band’s debut single and music video for the song, “Anemoia.” The song starts with a catchy bass line that anchors the rhythm along with the drums and once the guitars and vocals come in the melodies are dense and pulsate throughout. Ehinger shows the full range of his impressive vocal abilities and the band has a sound that mixes the best parts of Braid, Faraquet, and Gulfer and out of the music blender gives you something really catchy and really good.

The video concept is hilarious with the band doing a kind of collective muckbang, but ina charming way. Just watch it for yourself to see what I mean. “Anemoia’ delivers on everything you’d want and come to expect from a melodic midwest indie rock band with a long connected math rock past.
