NEW MUSIC // QUESTION WISDOM ITSELF WITH PART CARBON’S HEADY NEW SINGLE

It happens – whatever faith you hold, sometimes it shakes, and that’s okay. We live in a world where theoretically things could be going really well in one moment, and in the next, everything is changed, and if that makes you nervous, than of course you’re bound to question just about everything. But if that’s the case, what are you doing here?

Well, luckily you can get some solid ground with D.C.’s Part Carbon and their sprawling new single, “Useless Confucius.” The eight-minute romp through all things post-hardcore ponders these same questions with math rock and progressive wanderings, giving listeners more than enough to hold on to as they weather the internal storm.

Check out the song on Bandcamp below:

Much like the band’s December 2024 single, “Spring Cleaning,” the band shows off a strangely hypnotic grip on post-hardcore song structure. They clearly know a thing or two about things like how to apply key-changes, fleeting transitions, randomly compounded meters in organic, cohesive fashion. “Useless Confucious” is easily the more jagged and strange of the two, so we’re sure you’ll enjoy it, but be sure to try both.

So far the band has actually put out a handful of singles, and ultimately we’d be pretty stoked on anything more comprehensive like an EP or full length. This is part of a growing trend though for a number of reasons, but Part Carbon offers a lot per song, so we’ll take what we can get for now. Here’s hoping a larger body of work happens soon either way – we’ll keep you posted!
