In 2014, Chicago’s Bathing Resorts released their debut EP Snacks, a medley of energetic math rock clocking in at around nine minutes. It was, by all accounts, a snack. A quick source of nourishment; a burst of dazzling flavours. The sweets. The salts. The trans fats. Well, it’s two years on and Bathing Resort’s snacks (at least visually) appear to be a bit more nutritious.
To start off the week we are exclusively streaming Bathing Resort’s new EP Snacks II, another brief but nonetheless exciting assortment of fruit-filled instrumental math rock. Snacks II is perhaps a lighter record compared to its predecessor, featuring softly interwoven guitar and bass and lightly tapped percussion. Much of the distortion is spared here, and what emerges is a nice mix of complex but chilled out summer jams. It’s a healthier, but nonetheless delicious, adventure. One that will decrease your risk of colon cancer.
