Today is one of those days we find ourselves extremely thankful to be in a position where we get to hear new music all the time. Whether it’s working with old heads, established acts, or a brand new band, it’s always an honor, because it feels like we’re actually building towards something, like a community of some kind.
It’s also really great to watch things change and evolve, and bands like Ireland’s Silverglass are a great reminder of this. We’ve presented them here before on the site, and they had a glittering, lo-fi meets math rock sound that still rocked with a lot of energy, but on their new single “Resonance,” you can hear those songwriting elements progressed in the time since.

In addition to the general skill improvements / level-up’s in the guitar and bass, the production is definitely fuller, sparkling with random surprises that keep the whole thing fresh. It’s also a pretty diverse piece from a compositional standpoint, moving from technical prog, lo-fi, and math rock into what ultimately crescendos with something bordering on djent, injecting Polyphia influences with a bit of Cloudkicker and Mestis flavor.
It’s only been about a year since Cell Collapse, so to see gains being made so quickly is pretty impressive. While for right now we just have the single, we wouldn’t doubt there’s more Silverglass on the way soon, and we’ll definitely keep you posted.
