Planet B

NEW MUSIC // PLANET B HITS BACK WITH “WAR’S COMING HOME”

Yep, we know the World of Math is down and that it’s a perfect example of how the musical community, if not society in general, is better when it’s parts work together. The app is outdated and we will fix it one day.

But hey, you can always find testament to said shared strengths everywhere in punk, which is coincidentally our favorite adjacent genre to math rock because it reflects things much more explicitly. Planet B is, as many know, a great example of this.

Especially considering the subject matter, we’re all too happy to plug their latest. Bands like Planet B aren’t just about what a lot of critics call ‘acerbic wit’ – they echo an almost anarcho-punk ethos in the way they set out to disturb and dismantle the filth of societal norms. So of course, their new single, “War’s Coming Home (Fuck I.C.E. Forever),” doesn’t hold back:

The band’s routinely hellish delivery and lyrics speak for themselves as always, but in case you needed a little extra oomph to check out the song in full, Justin Pearson and Luke Henshaw are joined by Blood Brothers and Evil Island‘s Johnny Whitney. It’s a great pairing, because musically things take the shape of a demon-possessed SNES soundtrack and borderline dance-y industrial moments that border on the absurd. Fans of the band or anything Three One G will likely love it of course, and overall everyone particularly dialed in yet somehow weaving in more chaos than ever.

Most importantly though, if you buy it through Bandcamp, it goes to a great cause – check out the statement in the bio:

“With “War’s Coming Home,” Planet B (Justin Pearson, Luke Henshaw) and Johnny Whitney (The Blood Brothers, Evil Island) have joined forces aimed at domestic imperial forces, creating an unhinged anthem against ICE agents (unlovingly referred to in this track as “fake-ass GI Joes”). Here, the intensity and chaos of all three musicians forms a scathing symbiosis where Whitney’s banshee vocals align with Pearson’s alongside Henshaw’s dual MPC magic: synth lines and xylophone hooks juxtaposing the surreal comedic theater of today’s American leadership with the ominous, brutal consequences of its actions. This track will be released as a benefit with proceeds from sales going towards the Immigrant Defense Project.”
