DazGak!

NEW MUSIC // DAZGAK! MIX POST-HARDCORE, NOISE PUNK, AND SKATING FOR NEW SINGLE + VIDEO

In an age where anything is technically possible through things like the internet, software, machine learning, and AI, we were hit with a scathing but soulful reminder after watching the video for DazGak‘s new single – we weren’t worried about it, but in case you were, there’s no replacing the human soul.

There’s no replacing the rebellious spark of the human spirit, especially when skateboards get involved. Eventually we’ll probably eat our words for thinking that ,let alone typing it, we’ll focus on the positives for now. Besides, the Cork quintet’s latest shreds in more ways than one.

“Soulker” is a suds-y, feel-good post-hardcore inferno that almost feels like it’s meant to give you heartburn when you’re done with it. Grab your board, and then your antacids, because it’s time to check out the video below.

The clip by Dylan Duncan mixes raw live footage, BTS capture, and scratchy lyric inserts, the overall he and band creates something all the sudden wholly charming because again, it’s real as hell, and can’t be replaced. Also, we really like the addition of the vocals, and bonus points for making us laugh with lyrics like “eat my dust, loser.” Not every song about a bike, board, or scooter becomes a total win, but luckily “Soulker” has anthem written all over it.

If you like the reckless joy of frothy post-hardcore bands in the vein of Title Fight or Japandroids, or the undeniable force of bands like SWEET PILL and God.Alone., DazGak has bits of all of the above now, so keep your eyes out for more from them hopefully soon. In fact to tide you over, here’s some more info from the press release:

“This single is the newest release following the bands EP 81/82. A departure from a purely
instrumental act, this is the first Gak! song to be released with vocals from Jackson Weed and
Jake O’Driscol. “It’s really exciting to be showcasing this new direction of the band says Jackson. “We’ve had these tunes for almost two years now so we’re eager to release this single”.

With the addition of new member Jake O’Driscoll (guitar + vocals) the now four piece consisting
of Jackson Weed (guitar and vocals) , Philly Purcell (drums) and Enda Boyle (bass) bring an
electric, bounce off a wall type of energy to anywhere they play.

With a heavy hitting mix from Joe Clayton (Pijn, Conjurer, H.Y.O.M) the band attacks from
minute one and doesn’t relent till they’re finished with the listener, this sound has hairs on it for
sure.

“We’ve spent a long time working on this set of songs and we’re super proud of them. Having Joe onboard really set our nerves at ease once we heard he’d be mixing it” says drummer Philly. “It was there from mix one,he nailed it”.
