About a year ago, No Edits dropped a beautiful jagged and angular debut titled We All End Up the Same. It’s a great listen from front to back, but what resonates with us most about it is that the record represents a new chapter in what media vultures used to call ‘the Seattle sound.’
Actually, we’ve used the term as well, we admit. Yet despite the widespread acknowledgement of its existence, there’s a frustrating lack of conversation to be found on what it even means without having to focus on the big four of grunge. You know, beyond heaps of distortion, chorus, and anguish.
So today, in efforts to usher in a new chapter and eventually redefine how people think of the Seattle sound, we’re so, so stoked to premiere the first taste of We All End Up the Same: Live at ExEx Audio:

“Torch It” is one of our favorite songs off the record, so to see they wanted to run it as the first taste of the live album was a chef’s kiss moment for us. But we’re definitely looking forward to the whole thing, which will be out 8/8, the first anniversary of We All End Up the Same.
It’s still probably a little early in their career for us to start betting on them taking up the mantle for greats like Soundgarden and Alice In Chains, and musically, they’re not exactly related. But there are some sensory connections, with the most obvious of them being that No Edits, like the greats mentioned above, pull no punches when it comes to spilling their guts and putting them into songs.
