Lucius Fox

EXCLUSIVE // EXPERIENCE THE GREAT LAKES LIKE NEVER BEFORE WITH LUCIUS FOX AND THEIR LUSCIOUS NEW SINGLE

It’s been quite the week, and emotions are high everywhere as people all over the world watch the world… you know… kinda implode and cannibalize itself. But this highly engaging epic from Lucius Fox helped shake us from our stupor today, which we really needed.

The band’s been active since 2015 and hail from Kalamazoo, which has some pretty cool history if you’re into cars and guitars. While “Huron” might not classify technically as a vehicle, but it will take you places, and it’s definitely got some kick when it comes to guitars as well.

The song glides swiftly through prog, metal, math, and more, all with a highly melodic edge with unique qualities to it. And yes, calculating the song’s energetic content into equivalent horsepower would be pretty math rock of us, but also a slight waste of time because by now you should be listening to the exclusive stream below:

“Huron” ain’t no slouch, musically – spindly octopus drums, wailing, effects-laden guitar, chunky bass, and massive production underneath are all here, and while we did mention it’s melodic, it’s also very heavy at times. The dynamic works though – it’s a very ‘complete’ experience as song overall, and at six minutes it’s worth noting that piqued our interest the whole time with

Also, soon there will be a full album’s worth of material to appreciate, as the new Lucius Fox LP, titled The Life and Death of the Great Lakes, will be out September 12. It’s got a really cool theme that utilizes the Great Lakes and their natural cycles, largely in comparison to the cycles of human experiences like grief, anger, connection, contemplation, etc.

Even if lakes and human emotion aren’t your thing (you’re a bot aren’t you), we still highly recommend you check out the full artist statement and pre-order the record here. This one is going to be a doozy, we can tell.
