NEW MUSIC // Explore northern mythology and psychonautics with Russian math rock trio Hashtea

Now disclaimer: we call this brand of Feck content ‘new music’ but Baltic Wind, the new album by Saint Petersburg’s Hashtea, has been a long time coming. We first previewed the band to you guys back in 2014 as part of our Russia compilation. The track was a demo named ‘Aquarelle’, a sharp and icy ballad with a gorgeous chord progression and jazzy knots throughout.

Fast-forward six years and the instrumental trio have finally put together their debut full-length album. Musically, Baltic Wind is an intricate, eclectic and often haunting progressive rock. The band spices up their instrumentation with allusions to northern mythology, psychonautics and acid psychedelia.

Baltic Wind will definitely appeal to those looking for some musical oomph, a bit of extra style and texture to the run-of-the-mill post rock and math rock. Some weird notes, some rogue chords, the little musical nuances that cause you to jolt upright. Come give it a try…

I mean, I know some of you have had bad experiences when it comes to hash tea, but this wonky ice-capade is nowhere near as stressful as you might think. Sit back, drink plenty of water, and enjoy the stars.

Hashtea’s new album ‘Baltic Wind’ is now available over on da Bandcamp. You can name your price on this one too, wow-wee…
