In their 14 years of existence LITE have always been good at doing something new on each release; using different instruments, adding a sprinkle of other genres one wouldn’t normally associate with them and generally keeping things fresh. Yet they always seems to maintain a mix of clean guitar twiddle and filthy funk rhythms that is theirs alone.
It wouldn't be an October monthly without any mention of Halloween. It all started with Samhain, an old Celtic festival where the townsfolk would light these big-ass fires and wear costumes to ward off spirits. Nowadays, its kids warding off nutrition by knocking on doors and begging for candy.
The mathy pop proggers Death and the Penguin released their long awaited debut full-length album, Anomie, earlier this summer in partnership with Lonely Voyage Records. Since forming in 2013, the band has established itself as a must see live act and made their ArcTanGent debut this year as well as playing WRONG Festival.
August, or as we like to pronounce it 'Arctangent', was an absolute killer this year. We've seen some big release from acts like toe, tide/edit and Delta Sleep. We've also had the pleasure of witnessing the annual niche rock festival extraordinaire that is ATG.
